Life's hard on an island in the sun

I'm writing this as I sit on the front steps of my school watching the sunset. The library closed at 6, so I came out here to finish my IPSL midterm. As James Joyce once so pleasantly put it, I sit here watching the evening invade the avenue. And I couldn't be happier.

Today, I snorkeled with my Marine Life class and it was incredible. I saw sea lions, a sea turtle, an iguana, and tons of fish!

My fish list
Surgeonfish (Acanthuridae zebrasoma)
Damselfish: Galapagos Ringtail Damselfish Adult
            Stegastes beebei
            Petaca Banderita
Grunts
            Black-striped Salema (Xenocys jessiae)
Groupers
            Pacific Creolefish
Spinster Wrasse (Halichoseres nicholsi)

Marbled Goby (Eleotrica cabelae)

Sometimes, I feel like I'm in a movie when I go snorkeling here. I am scuba diving this weekend, and cannot wait.

I totally blame my physics professor for making me think about real life application of physics, but today really got me thinking about a whole bunch of physics questions. Would suction cups work underwater and why? Was the one I was really contemplating during lab.

I also have a really funny video of a sea lion trying to play with me and my friends. It was really terrifying, because their bites hurt, but my professor said to think of it as a puppy who wants to play. I'll see if I can post it later. The wifi here is terrible! I kind of like it though, because it makes me not want to waste my time on social media sites. Another thing I really like is my walk to and from school. It takes me about 17 minutes, and I can walk down by the boardwalk, which is beautiful. It gives me a lot of time to contemplate either what I want to accomplish or what I did that day. Although I was really anti-chaco when I first got them, I am so grateful for them. They're so comfortable for walking and I can swim in them too so I don't get my toes bitten by the fish! (I think I'm slowly turning into my nerdy parents).

This is the most amazing place on earth, and I am so glad I'm studying here.
